Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the University of Jordan (UJ), where she toured the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) and reviewed a flagship initiative to digitize educational content and produce interactive model lectures. The project reflects UJ’s broader shift toward modern, student-centered learning environments that move beyond traditional, lecture-based teaching and toward a more dynamic, technology-driven experience.
Upon her arrival, Her Majesty was welcomed by UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat and the university’s vice presidents: Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaky, Prof. Nahed Emaish, Prof. Ziad Hawamdeh, Prof. Faleh Sawair, and Prof. Amira Masri. Also present were Dean of the School of Educational Sciences Prof. Muhammad Alzyoud and Director of the Media, Public Relations and Radio Unit Dr. Rakan Abu Arabi Adwan.
Obeidat explained that the Educational Content Digitization Project, launched in 2024, aims to align academic programs with global best practices by transforming curricula into advanced interactive platforms that enhance learning while preserving the professor’s academic role. UJ has already begun digitizing the content of more than 280 undergraduate programs and 2,700 courses, along with thousands of additional learning materials that support digital transformation across all faculties.
Accompanied by CELT Director Dr. Raed Al Taher, Queen Rania visited the center’s production lab and attended part of an interactive digitized dentistry class delivered by Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry Aseel Sharaireh at the School of Dentistry. Her Majesty observed how digital formats enrich clinical teaching with innovative instructional tools.
At the UJ Library, Her Majesty joined the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) in celebrating its twentieth anniversary under the theme “Twenty Years of Giving to the Community.” She was briefed by RHAS Chairman Dr. Rami Farraj and Director General Dr. Amal Ireifij on the Society’s milestones since its establishment in 2005 and its growing influence on public health initiatives at the regional and international levels. As part of the anniversary showcase, Queen Rania viewed a recognition wall honoring founding partners and principal supporters.
The visit also included a youth dialogue session on mental health, during which Her Majesty was briefed on RHAS interactive platforms that highlight programs on mental well-being, healthy lifestyles, noncommunicable diseases, family health, tobacco control, and youth engagement. The four-day event aims to encourage reflection, promote positive behavior, and strengthen a culture of health awareness across universities and the wider community.
Ireifij noted that the Society’s twentieth anniversary represents both a major milestone and a renewed commitment to expanding healthy practices and reinforcing community partnerships, an outlook aligned with the visit’s focus on empowering young people and supporting well-being in educational settings.
